Manchester’s KRO Bars

FOOD — By admin on August 12, 2010 at 09:00

The word KRO is Danish for ‘village pub’. Obviously Manchester isn’t a Danish village but we are sure that our bars and restaurants have the same qualities and comforts of a KRO; good food, good beer and a warm welcome.

KRO is one of Manchester’s best known brands.  They have six bars and restaurants in Greater Manchester: KRO Bar, KRO 2, KRO Piccadilly, KRO Old Abbey Inn, KRO Heaton Moor and the recently opened KRO Trafford Centre.  KRO also has a highly successful outside catering business based at the Old Abbey Inn on Manchester Science Park.  All the venues are slightly different in decor and atmosphere, living nicely up to their motto ‘all together different.’  But what each KRO has in common is charm, personality and value for money in a unique, modern environment.  They offer the perfect meeting place after work or shopping, for a relaxing drink, a quick bite of a full 3 course meal; KRO has it all.

You can enjoy many Danish dishes with the KRO Danish House Classics including Frikadeller, Biksemad, Medister Sausages, Fish platter, Pork Ribs and Schnitzel and of course, herrings, as well as open faced sandwiches with a variety of fillings.  There is also a superb choice of Danish beers, available at all the KRO’s.  Imported straight from the breweries in Denmark to the KRO fridges in Manchester they serve AALBORG, AERO, OPA and DARK HORSE.

KRO Bar is a smart and comfortable environment to enjoy delicious food and a variety of drinks –

KRO2 is a spacious, open planned bar and restaurant with the added bonus of having one of the city centres biggest and best beer gardens and patio area, from which we stage many special events.

KRO Old Abbey Inn is housed in a building that is over 100 years old.  KRO has lovingly refurbished it to be in keeping with their clean Danish style while retaining the pub’s original features.  There is a cosy and welcoming atmosphere and, with outdoor seating, KRO Old Abbey Inn brings the country pub in the city.  This bar is perfect for a quick pub lunch, birthday parties and corporate events alike. KRO Catering, KRO’s outside catering business is based at The Old Abbey Inn.

KRO Piccadilly, set in the heart of Manchester’s Piccadilly Gardens, is our largest and busiest KRO!  It provides a great venue for a drink and something to eat, the perfect meeting place after shopping or working, or the start to a great night out in a vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere.

KRO Heaton Moor has a prominent location in the suburbs of Stockport.   Continuing the KRO tradition of a warm welcome and excellent service, KRO Heaton Moor is an excellent choice for families and has the feel of a quirky, unique and independently run restaurant.  There’s a lovely outdoor patio area and a function room is available for private parties and corporate dinners.

KRO Trafford Centre arrives at The Great Hall with a contemporary, chic and stylish decor that makes KRO different to any other restaurant already found here.  It’s the perfect venue to have a break after shopping or finish the day after the cinema.  They even have a unique outdoor seating area, pushing the boundaries of shopping centre dining.
